PolePosition Dubai map data — OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL 1.0 https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright Coverage: Marina, JBR, JLT, Palm, Dubai Harbour, Jumeirah Islands, Jumeirah Park, JVT, Springs, Meadows, Lakes, Emirates Hills, Greens, Views, Barsha Heights, Internet City, Media City, JVC, Sports City, Motor City, Arjan, Dubai Hills, Business Bay, Downtown, DIFC, Meydan, Dubai Creek Harbour, Al Jaddaf, Arabian Ranches, DAMAC Hills and Tilal Al Ghaf, including surrounding context. Accuracy: OpenStreetMap outlines and recorded building parts. Heights are mapped, estimated as mapped floors x 3.2 metres, or clearly labelled placeholders. Marina silhouettes and central Dubai towers retain mapped shapes at distance. Other distant buildings are axis-aligned bounding boxes, NOT accurate shapes. Zoom in for mapped outlines. Small unnamed buildings are selectively shown at a distance to keep the overview light; nearby tiles contain every available mapped outline. Entrances are included only when an entrance-tagged OSM node belongs to the building outline. Current access and facilities are unverified. Facade decoration is illustrative. Source snapshots have different dates: coastal source July 2026; inland/Stages 1–4 retrieved September 2026. Community camera views are not administrative boundaries. Coverage is incomplete. Download manifest-stage4.json in this folder. It identifies a versioned overview JSON and a binary tile pack. Each tiles[id] entry specifies an offset and length. Read pack[offset:offset+length], gzip-decompress it, then parse the resulting JSON. Each decoded tile has buildings, roads/lines and places in metre coordinates. A building belongs to exactly one 1,000 m grid cell by its centre. Roads are clipped at cell edges. Latitude/longitude origin is [55.1385,25.0805] (lon, lat). x=(lon-55.1385)*111320*cos(25.0805 degrees); y=(lat-25.0805)*111320. Example Python after downloading the manifest and its pack: import json, gzip manifest = json.load(open('manifest-stage4.json')) pack = open(manifest['pack'], 'rb').read() for key, tile in manifest['tiles'].items(): data = json.loads(gzip.decompress(pack[tile['offset']:tile['offset']+tile['length']])) print(key, len(data['buildings'])) Reuse of this derived map database is governed by ODbL 1.0. Marina silhouette layer (September 23, 2026): mapped footprints and building parts are retained at distance. Ocean Heights, Cayan, Tamani and Marina Crown use reduced versions of the existing illustrative exterior studies, not surveyed models. The layer loads when the coast is in view nearby and is released far inland. Fine facade detail still uses the existing close-range models. Central skyline layer (September 24, 2026): 493 mapped towers / multipart buildings retain their outlines and mapped volumes, including Burj Khalifa's setbacks and spire. The manifest's skyline JSON contains this derived subset. No claim of surveyed facades, complete roof geometry or verified apartment views is made. The central layer loads by proximity and is disposed when moving away. Detailed tiles replace it locally. Coastline segments were refreshed from OpenStreetMap. Stage 4 (24 September 2026): 31 area viewpoints, 80,272 mapped footprints, 366 independently loaded 1 km tiles. Added Meydan, Creek Harbour, Al Jaddaf, Arabian Ranches, DAMAC Hills and Tilal Al Ghaf. Tilal Al Ghaf coverage is partial, concentrated around Elan; the lagoon and other parts are not fully mapped. The manifest catalog JSON contains search and local-place records. It loads after the map begins rendering. The initial overview remains below 600 KB gzip; small unnamed buildings use a 140 m distant selection grid. Near tiles retain all mapped footprints. Source extracts and coastline: OpenStreetMap API and Overpass, retrieved 24 September 2026. No live listings were added. Bluewaters (24 September 2026): added as the 32nd area using existing mapped footprints, shoreline and bridge linework; no increase to the tile pack. Ain Dubai uses a lightweight illustrative wheel (48 cabins), replacing the footprint's rectangular extrusion at all detail levels. Displayed overall height is 250 m from https://www.aindubai.com/en/faq; hub/cabin references from https://www.macegroup.com/en-us/projects/ain-dubai/. Centre and orientation follow OSM way 1047288986. Beam sizes, cabin shapes and colours are illustrative; this is not a surveyed engineering model. The source tile retains its original 210 m OSM height; the display override is in bluewaters-landmark.js. Signature landmarks — 24 September 2026 Burj Khalifa retains the 35 mapped stepped volumes from OSM way 446646206. Reflective glazing, metal facade bands and the tapered spire finish are illustrative. Architecture reference: https://www.som.com/projects/burj-khalifa/ Burj Al Arab is an illustrative exterior aligned to OSM way 12700546, with mapped island way 10275924 and bridge way 10275944. It is a landmark site, not complete Jumeirah neighbourhood coverage. Structural proportions and finishes are approximate. Height reference: https://www.jumeirah.com/en/article/stories/dubai/the-story-of-an-icon Source geometry: signature-landmarks.json (OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL 1.0). Reflections use a tiny synthetic sky environment, not live surroundings or photographs. The existing city tile packs are unchanged. 27 September 2026: 30 additional residential exploration views (62 total), 181,842 mapped building footprints. Stage 5 snapshots retrieved from OSM on 27 September 2026. View windows are not administrative boundaries and counts can overlap. Coverage is incomplete; unknown heights remain estimates. Arabian Ranches 3 is a very limited preview: only 12 OSM footprints are available. Most homes there are missing. An additional Microsoft footprint source was investigated but NOT incorporated because it did not establish complete coverage. Dubai South opens on the Residential District; Emaar South data lies farther SW. 27 September 2026 — Mira / Jebel Ali / Satwa extension: Added Mira Oasis, Mira Oasis 2 (northern cluster), Jebel Ali Village and Satwa. Mira Oasis 2's view was checked against the Emaar masterplan hosted at https://d1ov4zfz2t2vta.cloudfront.net/storage/project_files/Mira-Oasis-II-Master-Plan.pdf Only the camera location was referenced; the plan imagery is not redistributed. Jebel Ali Village's mapped data may lag redevelopment. No claim of complete, current or photorealistic coverage is made. Supplementary data at Mira Oasis and DAMAC Hills 2: Microsoft Global ML Building Footprints, https://github.com/microsoft/GlobalMLBuildingFootprints Release 2026-08-13, UAE source tile 123023132. These machine-extracted roof outlines may merge multiple homes and do not supply names or verified heights. Only outlines inside their mapped neighbourhood boundary are retained; small artefacts and polygon overlaps with OSM geometry are rejected. Display height is an illustrative 7 m, NOT measured. Individual imagery dates/current building condition are unknown. Objects with IDs starting ms-footprint- retain source metadata and are supplied under CDLA-Permissive-2.0; the complete agreement is CDLA-Permissive-2.0.txt in this directory. Existing OSM objects remain attributed to OSM under ODbL. The supplementary-source investigation at Arabian Ranches 3 is still unused. 27 September 2026 — Ibn Battuta and geographic context: Added exploration views for Ibn Battuta Mall and The Gardens (68 area choices). The mall's 94-point OSM outline (way 102832548) had been outside previous view windows and is now included, together with surrounding roads, transit and mapped businesses. Its one mapped floor gives an estimated 3.2 m model height; this is not a measured exterior model or a mapped mall interior. The duplicate mall POI node is omitted in favour of the canonical building way. Area captions follow the camera target and nearby reference centres. They are orientation aids, not exact administrative boundaries or the user's GPS location. Wider views show a small number of collision-managed neighbourhood names. 3 October 2026 — resort exterior studies: Atlantis The Palm and Atlantis The Royal use procedural architectural models aligned to mapped building axes, replacing their generic extrusions. Palm's central arch and Royal's sky courts are open geometry. Secondary dimensions, facade rhythm, terraces and pools are illustrative, not surveyed. Royal uses KPF's published 178 m architectural height rather than the OSM 193 m value. Existing Khalifa geometry is retained. Four landmark models plus the Arab site total 44,356 triangles and 22 material batches; fine resort facade geometry is hidden at distance and in Low mode. No photo textures are fetched.
